Village Kitchen Sammy

The Village Kitchen Common Market Food Court in West Quincy is a collection of several restaurants in one, featuring a market place with seating and several counters offering freshly made sandwiches, entrees, pizza, soups and frozen yogurt. A recent stop resulted in my sampling their Pesto Chicken Rollup: grilled chicken breast w/ chunky sun dried tomato pesto sauce, low fat Muenster cheese, lettuce on toasted scali roll. The tomato pesto was more tomato than pesto, combining a mild tomato flavor (I was expecting a bit more punch or tang, but it still worked) with the tender chicken, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. The creamy texture of the muenster and the crunch of the toasted sesame covered scali roll worked well together. Not bad.

Chicken Salad Club, Harry's Breakfast and Lunch, Roslindale, MA

I’m a fan of Harry’s Breakfast and Lunch (also known as Harry’s All American Breakfast) in Roslindale, MA. They have awesome pancakes, great omelettes, and an extensive selection of breakfast sandwiches for those who like to “two hand” their 1st meal of the day.  This quick bite is actually about a recent lunch offering I experienced there – a chicken salad club with a side of  homemade potato salad.

The chicken salad consisted of tender chunks of chicken held together by mayo, with a blend of tomato, lettuce, and crispy bacon rounding out each flavorful bite. The homemade potato salad was punched up with diced red onion, and made a nice complement to the club. Nice job, Harry’s. I’ll be back!
